Rhino

  1. Assure the Rhino surface model is closed volume (closed valid surface or polysurface).
  2. Under some conditions the mesh translation of the object have gaps.
  3. When building the model, use the “join naked edge” command frequently
  4. Use the “join naked edges” command and select the edges to be joined,
  5. Join naked edges one set at a time.
  6. Re-import your STL into Rhino and check for naked edges.
  7. Create a polygon mesh of your object (Tools - Polygon Mesh - From NURBS Object) as an .stl.
  8. Max angle: 30
  9. Max dist edge to srf 0.01
  10. Initial grid quads 16
  11. All others 0
  12. Refine checked
         o Simple or small CAD files create .stl files that may be around 500 KB in size.
         o Complex models with best quality .stl files may range from 4-12MB in size.
  13. Open and review the file in Solid View or similar third party viewer. Compare to the images. Save when comparable to BEST.
  14. Zip up files for transfer, Upload to Planet Proto.
