Planet Polyjet Rapid Prototypes

Planet Proto utilizes Objet’s 3D printing systems as the primary technology for turning our clients’complex 3D geometries into 3D parts. The Objet Eden system prints these parts with exceptional quality and accuracy. When the Planet Proto group began researching and purchasing new prototyping equipment, the designers, machinists and engineers agreed the Objet has clear advantages over SLA parts. The decision was made to use it as the primary proto build system of Planet Proto.

PolyJet parts from Planet Proto are among the most accurate available from a prototyping process. Each part the Planet Proto team runs is in the highest accuracy setting. Materials

Parts printed on Planet Proto’s Objet system are made from optically cured acrylic resins. The parts have smooth surfaces and can readily achieve thin pins, text printing and other very fine details. The Objet FullCure® datasheet can be downloaded here.

PolyJet technology works by jetting state-of-the-art photopolymer FullCure® materials in ultra-thin layers .0006” (16µ) onto a build tray layer by layer until the 3D model is completed. This thickness is best reviewed under a microscope.

The system works much like an inkjet printer. The system lays down layer upon layer to create the 3D part accurately. The jetted acrylic material produces fully cured 3D models that can be handled and used immediately without post-curing. A waxy, gel-like support material supports complicated geometries and is easily removed by hand and water-jetting.

When a PolyJet rapid prototype is ordered from Planet Proto the parts are delivered cleaned of the support material and ready for use.

The Technology

The PolyJet technology used by Planet Proto has a maximum build size of up to 19.685” (500 mm) x 15.748” ( 400 mm) x 7.874” (200 mm).

The Objet Machine has two modes of operation: High Speed and High Resolution. Planet Proto only uses the high resolution setting to provide the greatest value to our customers. Compare the following advantages to other systems.
