The Planet Proto Universe

The Planet Proto Universe is actually brick and mortar, residing at Inergi in Huntsville, Alabama. Inergi's online Planet Proto system was created to deliver only the highest quality parts to engineering teams and product development groups with online ease and convenience. The Inergi building though, is actually brick and mortar. The techniques, methods and processes used by Planet Proto were developed as a strategic go-to-market capability within a Fortune 500 company. That powerful capability is now available direct to you. All our work is custom. We are not a broker.

The team that makes up Inergi's Planet Proto moved into this historic building in 2000 and has been updating the facility ever since. The oldest part of the old Martin Stamping & Stove complex was built in 1928 (shown here). The old factory made heating appliances and systems for about 80 years. Our facility has over 5 acres of under roof space which now includes office space, lab space, shop space and warehouse space. The core Planet Proto group has been providing high-quality prototype plastic parts and product assemblies to companies across the country ever since. “You Design – We Proto”. You know your business and we know ours.

Within the walls of this complex we have 8 distinct shop areas including: The Rapid Prototyping lab, Casting lab, Mold Building and Hand Finishing shop, CNC Machine shop, Metal Fabrication shop, The Production Paint shop and The Wood Working shop. Only the rapid prototyping, casting, CNC machining and mold building shops provide assemblies and parts through Planet Proto. If you or your company needs high quality production paint service, or mid production level CNC driven routed wood, Plastics or aluminum please give us a call. We are here to help.

Recent Upgrades

In 2009 Inergi installed an additional high-tech, downdraft paint shop to handle additional demand for paint work. In fall ’09 Inergi installed a custom built, vacuum-cast production casting shop that fills orders of parts that are not practical to injection mold, in quantities of thousands. This system is ideally suited to production runs of parts in quantities from 50 units into the 100,000 unit range.

At the core of The Planet molding process is leading edge technology. PolyJet 3D printing. PolyJet is superior to almost all SLA systems in resolution and part cleanup. Higher resolution parts give you more accurate results to evaluate. The Planet rapid prototype system builds even the most complex geometries accurately and easily. Planet Proto uses the PolyJet system to set a new quality standard in 3D printing and prototype development. Planet Proto also offers SLA – Stereolithography.

The core team developed their precision resin molding techniques to be visually equivalent and mechanically similar to injection molded parts. The goal was to exceed the expectations of focus groups, trade show attendees, corporate executives, industrial designers and engineers like you. That goal has not changed. The core of the Planet Proto team made their first prototype and cast parts in 1986. A process of constant improvement has provided the results you see at the Planet today.

Please call ahead for a facility tour 1-877-347-7686. We welcome the opportunity to show you around. We show groups how we help accelerate product development and the go to market efforts of our customers. We have school groups, engineering and design groups visit the facility regularly. Individuals are required to sign in and provide identification. We are in Huntsville, AL just off interstate spur 565. Because one of our business units supplies the museum and display industries you can never predict what you may see on the Inergi – Planet Proto Tour.
